Beirut is in flames

(immagine da flickerjunkie)

Beirut is in flames. Beirut is burning.
And this is our chance to get rid of all our trash.
Throw into the fire your conscience and liberty.
Clean the whole area, leave no stone intact.

Ignite the books, paper burns well.
Don’t be soft hearted, just feed the inferno.
Sanitize your house; does anyone yell?
Shove a blazing rag into the gibbering gob.

There are doubts? Burn them too! And throw into the flames
the mourns, moans, and groans.
The stench of scorched baby flesh
shall cover up many smells.

Beirut is in flames. Beirut is burning.
Turn everything into ashes, once and for all.
Throw into the fire your conscience and liberty.
Tomorrow they might, god forbid, flourish again.

che senso ha ancora il g8?

si è appena concluso il summit del governo mondiale ma ci ha lasciato ancora troppe domande senza risposta.

    Dear friend,
I’m an Israeli peace lover. I admire chanoch levin.
I wonder how this poem is publishid in every forum in the world. no doubt that chizbullah is winning the media-war…
    some facts:
Neither in Nazi Germany nor in Iran and its arm Chizbullah you could find such a satire poem like Levin’s. Israel is a peace loving democracy which is fighting for its life, protecting its citizens’ existence.
Chizbullah and Iran continuously demand the extermination of Israel, a tiny state with only 6 milion citizens… sarcasticly, the same number of Jews exterminated by Nazis…
If you are a New-Nazi, or a Chizbullah member, my words are wasted. but if you really wish to base your opinions on facts, always doubt the one and only truth. Israel did not start this war. It is a reaction to Chizbullah’s attack on Wednesday, July 12. Have you ever heard about an army that calls the citizens and sends sms to them in order to worn them of the coming attack on their houses, full of misiles?
    All the best,
    Tzippi

    Dear Tzippi,
Israel to ensure is own safety and is own status as a peaceful and modern country has to act as a democracy and with justness not only in regard of his citizens, not only within his internal bounds, but also versus the occupied territories and his sourrounding neighbors.
Not everything depends on Israel and not everything can be resolved counting on goodwill and respectful relationships, but not everything could be sorted out with a continous belligerant attitude either. As you can see in ongoing events in Lebanon, even facing the most fierce enemy the exclusive use of the brute force is not enough to ensure an eraditions of the forces that are manacing you. The most likely accomplishment of this war is having destroyed the rich and lifely society of Lebanon, not gaining in return the a real garantee of an end of HB military power.
What will you have achieved with this action? Less chance to live quietly in the future, less chance of establishing good relations with arabs countries, less chance of economical and social development in the region, more hatred towards Israel, more determination and popular support for your enemies.
Was it worth the price of so many lives?
And no, alerting citizens of your incoming attack if you then disregard all the basic rules of respect for the civil population doesn’t you qualify for a prize. Targeting shelters, ambulances, fleeing people, bridges and roads vitals for keeping the flow of foods, destroying homes as a retaliation is something never seen in a civil army. You should be ashamed and still you seem proud of such brutalities.
    Stay well.
